First Event!!! ($10 for first 5people) Mochitsuki & Japanese BBQ

🍡 Pounding & Grilling: Authentic Japanese Mochitsuki & BBQ! 🪵🔥 Hey everyone! 👋 THIS IS THE OFFICIALLY FIRST EVENT, COULD YOU MAKE HISTORY WITH ME? Have you ever seen those amazing viral videos of traditional master mochi pounders in Japan? The high energy, the rhythmic shouting, and that unbelievably soft, stretchy rice dough? I am incredibly passionate about sharing real Japanese food culture and traditions, and I realized something... almost nobody gets to experience authentic Mochitsuki (traditional live mochi pounding) here in Sydney! So, I’m throwing a casual community BBQ and picnic, and I am bringing along a handcrafted, wood mortar (usu) and wooden mallets (kine) so we can do the real thing together! Whether you are a Japanese expat missing home, a massive foodie, or just curious to try something completely unique, you are incredibly welcome to join our circle. 💰 The Cost: **$20** per person. (it will be **$25** from next time) 🐧🐤🐴🦆\*\*$10\*\* for first 5 people How to pay: Please transfer the $20 to my PayID when you RSVP so I know exactly how many ingredients to buy at the supermarket. ⚠️ **Minimum Group Size: We need a minimum of “5”people confirmed for this event to go ahead. If we don’t hit 5 people, the event will be rescheduled and everyone will receive a full refund instantly.** 📍 Event Details: 📅 When: **15 June 2025 from 03:00 PM** 🌳 Where: **Pirrama Park** Please kindly join our whatsapp group! https://chat.whatsapp.com/FtHYMd1U3T12j9G7AkjK60?mode=gi_t or message to me (0433910481) or instagram (but no followers yet :))) https://www.instagram.com/mochitsuki_bbq?igsh=MTEzMGt0MWM5ZnF3bA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr Come hang out, make some new friends, practice to talk Japanese, and taste what real, fresh-pounded Japanese street food is supposed to taste like. See you all by the grills! 🍡🔥👋 TRY TO MAKE EVERYONE SATISFIED EVEN THIS IS THE FIRST EVENT. FEEL FREE TO JOIN!!

Indoor Rock Climbing (Urban Climb Blackburn ) - First-time to Advanced

**Urban Climb Blackburn** Never climbed before? No worries at all! You're very welcome here! Just complete a quick safety induction when you arrive and the staff will walk you through everything you need to know to climb safely indoors. It's easy, friendly, and won't take long. The venue has plenty to enjoy, including a bouldering cave, speed wall, sauna facilities, and sparkling water to keep you going. This group is primarily focused on rope climbing, top roping and lead climbing, but if you'd prefer to stick to bouldering while you find your feet, that's absolutely fine too! Many of our members have their lead pass and gear, but there's no pressure at all. **Finding us:** If you arrive on time, look for us gathered around the couches in the bouldering area. We're a friendly bunch, so just come and say hi! Running a little late? No stress, just let the staff up the front know you're with the Climb Meetup group and they'll make an announcement. Someone will come and find you and introduce you around. A few of our regulars also wear a black shirt with the old logo, so keep an eye out for those. **A note on numbers:** The meetup runs every Monday and many regular members come along independently without RSVPing through the group, so the crowd is often bigger than it looks on the attendee list! If you're ever unsure whether people will be there or worried it might be a tiny group, feel free to drop the organisers a message beforehand and we'll put your mind at ease. **Fees:** Entry is paid directly to Urban Climb. You can find current pricing at [urbanclimb.com.au/pricing](https://urbanclimb.com.au/pricing/). If you hold a climbing membership elsewhere, it's worth checking your member benefits as you may be eligible for a discount. For venue info and the first-time waiver, visit [urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn](https://urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn/). **Stay connected:** We also have a facebook group [https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808](https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808) with a chat function; a great way to connect with members before or after a session!

FREE: Walk the Kangaroo Point - Green Bridges - City loop

Join us for a walk around the Kangaroo Point - Green Bridge loop. We'll meet outside Joey's Cafe. We walk across the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs, along the Southbank waterfront, across the Neville Bonner Bridge through old city Botanical Gardens, about 5 city blocks, then back over the new Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, along Main Street to The Pineapple Hotel. The Walk is about 7kms and takes about 80 to 90 minutes. Meet at 5:55pm (or earlier) for 6:00pm Start. Walk at your own pace as we stop at a number of catch up points along the way so you won't get left behind. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but the dinner venue is not. Relax... Even if it your first time, we aim to make all feel welcome and it's a good idea to turn up a little early. Optionally... After the walk, we stop at the Pineapple Hotel for dinner and / or a drink, a great way to socialise in a group setting. The conversation is more dynamic in the group setting, so if your a bit shy you can enjoy being a listener, if there's a topic your passionate about, you can jump right in on it. The menu can be found here: https://pineapplehotel.com.au/garden-bar/ There is free parking from 5pm near Joey's Cafe, the Pineapple Hotel and the streets between. Plan on arriving a little early (10-15 minutes) we can have a chat and you have a buffer if traffic is poor. We do leave on time and once started I don't get a chance to check for messages as it is unsafe do while walking. If there is mild rain I'll do the walk, but, if it is pouring down or well set in, I'll just do dinner. Remember we are all adults so... I thank you as my guests that you bring your manners and be respectful! Please keep your RSVP up to date. It is seen by Meetup and your host as a sign of disrespect of you are a 'No Show' thank you. Eating Food and Telling Stories: Malaysia

Eating Food and Telling Stories: Malaysia

A small dinner with strangers, stories, and delicious Malaysian food. Food has so much to tell - every dish carries memories. Enjoying the taste is great, but food becomes even more enjoyable when we know the story behind it. This event is not a lecture or a food tour; it is a dinner where we’ll eat together and talk about why we eat what we eat: how dishes travel, how flavours create memories, and how food becomes part of identity. I’ll guide the evening by choosing the dishes and sharing short stories about Malaysian food, ingredients, history, and culture, but the best version of the night is a conversation. Everyone is invited to taste, react, ask questions, and add their own perspective. It will be fun - we might debate the long-running Malaysia-Singapore nasi lemak rivalry, explore how laksa reflects centuries of migration, or look at how trade and colonial politics transformed flavours that many people now think of as traditional. You do not need to know anything about Malaysian food. You might be trying it for the first time, or you might have grown up eating it. Either way, the point is the same: to enjoy great food with good company and discover the stories behind the dishes. Coming alone is very welcome. Coming hungry for food and stories is even better. * Group size: 4-6 people * Duration: Around 1-1.5 hours * Cost: Free to attend; everyone pays for their own food and drinks, likely around $30–35 per person * The exact venue and dishes will be shared several days before the event. We'll be sharing a selection of dishes as a group, which is central to the experience. Because of that, this event may not be suitable for people with dietary restrictions
