Mount William (Grampians’ tallest peak) (4 spots - road trip)

[Instagram: Road Trips by The Dancing Voyager: Ron Singh](https://www.instagram.com/the_dancing_voyager_ron_trips) Sunshine forecast! Spontaneous day trip to Mount William (Grampians’ tallest peak)! Very short notice! These are always fun! Over 70 road trips done in 5 years! I run 3 Meetup groups (shown on my profile). All are part of my second passion project. This road trip is for people new to Australia who have not been to this location (International Students, Working Holiday Makers and tourists)! No evidence is required. I will trust you! **Details given below in sections: (1) Questions / (2) Road trip itinerary / (3) Payment / (4) Responsibility / (5) Breaks / (6) Weather / (7) Phone charging / (8) Contact** **\-\-\- \(1\) QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS \-\-\-** **Your questions for me:** Why is the total fee so low at $20, covering a new, large rental (SUV), fuel and driver, on something that seems really high quality and well planned, like a private tour company? Sounds too good to be true or that there is a catch. Is this genuine? **My answers to you:** Because this project is my community service to give back. I explain this further below. The low fee is just a formality to confirm your place, so that I know you are serious on attending. This is genuine. Over 70 road trips done in 5 years! I have created precious memories for many people new to Australia. Photos on Instagram link further above. **\-\-\- \(2\) ROAD TRIP SUMMARY AND ITINERARY \-\-\-** Day trip to Mount William (Grampians’ tallest peak). This is a special part of the Grampians, which itself is part of one of the greatest mountain ranges on Earth! **Itinerary: Lake Burrumbeet - Ararat lookout - Halls Gap - Lake Bellfield - Mount William - Ararat lookout encore - freeway hillside lookout** **Meeting point: Fed Square, 8:45 am**. Back there by **8:45 pm**. Meet by the steps (main entrance, opposite the Swanston Street tram stop). **\-\-\- \(3\) PAYMENT \-\-\-** **Total fee: $20 in total (no other costs). This covers a new, large rental (SUV), fuel and driver.** **Eventbrite link for payment:** [https://mtwilliam-road-trip.eventbrite.com.au](https://mtwilliam-road-trip.eventbrite.com.au/) **Cancellations:** If I cancel the road trip for any unforeseen issues, a full refund will be given. If you cancel, there is no refund. **Why is the fee so low?** The low fee is just a formality. It might sound too good to be true or that there is a catch. There is no catch. I am simply someone who has been giving back for many years. I playfully call this project a “Melbourne travel secret”! There are people in this world who want to genuinely give back without any expectations because they are truly fulfilled and grateful for what they have. I am one of those people. This is my community service. I am not doing this for money and I never have. Money cannot buy passion. The nature of majestic Australia helped me find peace and passion and I want to give back by sharing that inspiring nature with people new to this country. If they are also inspired by that nature, then that is my reward. There is no hidden agenda in doing this project. The reason I am being quite upfront is because in this day and age, there is always a catch when people do something like this. There is none with me and I am not selling or promoting anything. I do not need anything because I have peace, passion and fulfilment. I have everything. I am truly humbled and grateful. Photos from road trips are on Instagram link below: [Instagram: Road Trips by The Dancing Voyager: Ron Singh](https://www.instagram.com/the_dancing_voyager_ron_trips) **\-\-\- \(4\) RESPONSIBILITY\, LIABILITY\, SAFETY \-\-\-** As your driver, I am responsible and liable for your safety while we are in the vehicle. Passengers are insured as per the Australian law. For times we are outside the vehicle, we then become responsible for our own liability and safety, just like every other capable adult in society. **\-\-\- \(5\) BREAKS/MEALS \-\-\-** There will be many breaks for sightseeing/walks. I will stop at places where food/snacks will be sold but you are welcome to bring your own as well. There will be a lunch break at either a cafe or takeaway shop. **\-\-\- \(6\) WEATHER AND WHAT TO WEAR \-\-\-** I plan events when weather looks good but please also see itinerary for location details and check the forecast to dress accordingly. My advice is to always be prepared! Recommend to have something to cover you if rain suddenly appears or if winds suddenly get cool. Also recommend to carry sunscreen and a hat. Please also wear good, comfortable shoes that can provide protection from water (in case there are muddy areas). You can bring many things, as the vehicle will have a lot of storage space. My road trips do not have a lot of long walks. The focus is on sightseeing, relaxing and appreciating the beauty of nature. **\-\-\- \(7\) PHONE CHARGING \-\-\-** Please charge your phone before joining. In the past, people have taken lots of videos and photos and used up their batteries! You can bring your charging cable if you want. The vehicle will have various charging ports. **\-\-\- \(8\) CONTACT \-\-\-** If you need to contact me, please reach out through Meetup, Eventbrite or Instagram. If you wanted my mobile number, please let me know.

Minyon & Condong Falls Loop 🌴

Hey everybody, Let's hike Minyon Falls down to the base! We will start out the trail at the top of the falls, taking a small detour to the the hidden Condong Falls. From here we will wind down through the tranquil sub tropical rainforest to the base and take in the beauty of Minyon Falls. After a long lunch break at the base, we will wind back up the loop towards the Minyon Grass area, where we will finish our hike. Total hike distance is approximately 10km. **IMPORTANT INFO** * Event restricted to 20 people. * One plus 1 per person welcome, please indicate on RSVP. * If you RSVP then can't attend, please give a minimum of 48 hours notice so others don't miss out: Please read our full RSVP and cancellation policy below. * Please bring lunch, snacks and enough water as there will not be any chance to buy any once we leave. * This is classified as a "Grade 3-4" walk: Above average difficulty, with a scramble to the falls required at the bottom of the hike. * Please be sure to wear closed toe shoes. * Option to swim at base of falls. * Donations are appreciated to help cover the cost of Meetup fees. Please Help our group grow! Please join us here on facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/200630941048701 **RSVP and cancellation policy** As our MeetUps are generally published on the Thursday evening before the Sunday's event, there are less than 3 days between publication and the event. Therefore, by RSVPing it is expected that you are certain you can attend and do not cancel your place. If you have any doubt about attending the event, please leave the space for others who are sure they can come. If you need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, please send a private message with a legitimate reason as to why you can't make it to the event organiser (please note that the weather will not be accepted as a legitimate excuse, as the forecast 3 days prior to the event is close enough to get a good idea of what to expect). Failure to send said private message will result in a first warning and then if it happens a second time, it will result in your removal from the group. The reasoning for this is that our MeetUp group has over 1000 members and with hikes only taking 15-20 people, places are at a premium. Therefore, when there are late withdrawals, members on the waitlist miss out on attending at the expense of others, so a private message is to make attendees accountable for their RSVPs and therefore being considerate of others wishing to join. Thank you for your understanding. **Disclaimer** Healthy Hangouts is not a formal organisation and therefore does not have liability insurance. Healthy Hangouts will not be held responsible in any way for any mishaps, injuries or adverse health occurrences that may happen during any events - Organisers, guides and associates of Healthy Hangouts will not be held liable either. By confirming your attendance to any Healthy Hangouts events, you are consenting to taking full responsibility for any injuries, mishaps or adverse health occurrences that may occur to you during events whilst also agreeing not to hold anyone else responsible.

Fox Hill Grade 3 Moderate Hike 5.6km

After taking a good 6 months hiatus during the offseason, I need to ease back in let's rehash a favourite. One of Adelaide's gems nestled right by the city in the suburb of Rostrevor (Hint it's not Morialta this time but almost as good and much more niche). Fox Hill, often overlooked in my observation as it is a modest conservation area but well worth the effort in my opinion. Meet at the ample car park on your left as you approach on Montacute rd. We will then continue on Chapmans Track, Moores Track before returning via Fox Hill Track. Don't be deceived the first 1km is steep but safe as we will be traversing this upwards for the first 30 min and then all downhill thereon. Really a combination of a Grade 4 hard hike at the beginning and easy Grade 2 fire trails thereafter. Total distance is a mere 5.6kms for those waiting in the ranks that are less keen on endurance this one's for you. There will be at least one notable landmark as we navigate this circuit as reward for effort put in at the start (almost 300m elevation gain). Let's enjoy a brisk hike and enjoy the best of nature after good rains. Hiking poles or an umbrella are not mandatory but recommended for the steep ascent at the start. **What to Bring:** * Sturdy footwear 🥾 * Sunsmart gear 😎 * Water 1 litre 🎒 * Hiking Pole 🌂 **SAFETY NOTICE:** As we embark on this journey, remember that each participant and their guests are responsible for their safety and well-being throughout the event. Unforeseen incidents or accidents are beyond my control, so please exercise caution. If you bring guests to an event, it's crucial to inform them that this is a hiking event. They need to wear appropriate shoes and clothes for hiking. Please ensure your guests are well-prepared. **By RSVPing to this event, you confirm that both you and your guests take full responsibility for your own safety.** You agree not to hold the Organiser or Adelaide Adventure Seekers liable for any accidents, losses, or misadventures during the event. If the above resonates with you please confirm your spot by hitting the RSVP button below.

Stoicism - Courage | Temperance | Wisdom | Justice

This meeting is a space for those who are curious about Stoic philosophy and want to study, analyze, and apply its teachings to daily life. We engage with Stoic texts, discuss their relevance in the modern world, and explore how to embody Stoic virtues such as wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice. We encourage critical thinking within the framework of Stoicism, where we ask questions to explore, refine, and deepen our understanding of Stoic principles. Format: Every week, we analyse three Stoic quotes, give our perspectives, and discuss them as a group. A core principle of the group is that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate and contribute to discussions (however, attendees are welcome to listen and speak only if they feel comfortable). Facilitators actively encourage balanced participation and foster an atmosphere of active listening and respect. 1. **The Dichotomy Of Control** \- Things that are within my control: my thoughts and actions\. Things that are outside of my control: everything else\. Having a clear set of goals sets me on a journey; from which I am detached from all outcomes 2. **Live According To Nature** \- It is in my nature to behave virtuously\. The fundamentals of which are: a) *Courage* \- face my fears b) *Temperance* \- restrain from excess c) *Wisdom* \- respond rationally d) *Justice* \- act responsibly 3. **The Obstacle Is The Way** \- The obstacles in my life are blessings in that overcoming them strengthens my mind\. 4. **Sympatheia** \- Be an objective thinker by understanding that we have a mutual interdependence on the whole of humanity\. 5. **Memento Mori** \- Meditate on my mortality and live in the present\. 6. **Premeditatio Malorum** \- The only certainty in life is that nothing is certain\. I should prepare myself mentally for any disruptions that may occur\. Rehearse these in my mind: exile\, torture\, war\, shipwreck\. 7. **Amor Fati** \- First\, to accept fate\, then to love it\. 8. **Reflect (journal)** \- Reflect on the day by exploring why I felt and acted the way I did "The reason why we have two ears and only one mouth is so we might listen more and talk less." - Zeno of Citium Let's create a community of people who inspire, motivate, and support each other to become more responsible and rational adults.

But **Cook at Kurnell** is exactly that kind of joint… **I’ve been to the bar – love it. I’ve done an hour hike to Kurnell – love it. And I love the Tozzi family who owns it.** **So? POSTPONED Cape Surville Lookout

POSTPONED. Peter and I will investigate the roads this weekend and advise the situation for another time. This walk is the Cape Surville Track out and back starting somewhere along Richardsons Road. This is vague because if you are lucky, you can drive the full length of that 4WD track in a normal car, but rain and track degradation means that we don't know how far we can get. There is some discrepancy in the blogs and posts about how long the hike is, and I suspect this is because of all the different starting points along the track. See the posts below from All Trails that range from 4.3 for just the Cape or 24.3 if you walk the entire length of Richardsons Road each way. We will probably cover up to 10-15km and it could take 4-5 hours if we take it easy. But if Richardsons Road is in bad condition we may have to park earlier. **Meeting Time:** 9:45am - be early so that we know exactly who is coming. you may not have phone reception and will not be able to call. **Meeting Place:** We will meet at the end of Hylands Road, and then together venture as far along Richardsons Road as we can. We will walk to the end of Richardson Road, cross Chasm Creek and start the track. **Getting There**. It takes about 1h 20min to drive to the start so you will need to leave town early to arrive in time. "Head towards Murdunna on the Forestier Peninsula, just south of Dunalley. In Murdunna, turn left off the A9 into Hylands Road. This road is a forestry road, and all tracks are gravel." If you love books that are lighter and fluffier to read, with supernatural elements (magic, vampires, werewolves, etc.) then you will enjoy this group. After book club we head off and become a tourist in our own city, by attending an exhibition or some other cultural activity. For June, we are going to meet at Time Out Fed Square for book club, then head up to the State Library to visit the Rebel Heart: Love Letters and Other Declarations exhibition: [Rebel Heart: Love letters and other declarations | State Library Victoria](https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/rebel-heart-love-letters-and-other-declarations) The books for Sunday 21 June 2026 are: Can't Spell Treason without Tea by Rebecca Thorne [Can't Spell Treason Without Tea (Tomes & Tea, #1) by Rebecca Thorne | Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61753288-can-t-spell-treason-without-tea) Cinder House by Freya Marske [Cinder House by Freya Marske | Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/222376570-cinder-house) Red Star Rebels by Amie Kaufman [Red Star Rebels by Amie Kaufman | Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/236064352-red-star-rebels) If you would like to look at all the books that we have read so far, click [here](https://1drv.ms/x/s!Am2wjNpl1c1ijCNvt-hrWM8gPaem?e=riV48x). JUGGER - soft-combat foam weapons, free to try!

It's Jugger time! Get on down to Hawthorn for fun, sun, exercise, and silly shenanigans! * ✅ Free to attend * ⚔️ Jugger Equipment is supplied * 🍜 Post-training social lunch - all welcome * ➡️ [Find us on Discord](https://discord.gg/WHnMyk56Cu) Jugger is an exciting, mixed-gender soft combat sport. Two teams use a selection of padded foam spars to tag opponents as they aim to put the jugg (the game ball) into their opponent's goal. **Watch Jugger being played in [this excellent short demo video](https://vimeo.com/28592980).** Jugger Melbourne training sessions include both full games of jugger, as well as a variety of training drills designed to promote **teamwork, communication, exercise, health and fitness, and teach core game skills.** After training we head across to Glenferrie Rd for lunch and socializing, which you are welcome (and encouraged!) to join. **‍🏃‍♀️‍➡️ New Player Info / Who Can Join** New players are always welcome! Our experienced coaches will teach you basics to get you and and swinging in no time Jugger is easy to pickup the basics while deep to master. We have a minimum age policy of 16 years (please note, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian), but other than that we welcome anyone of all fitness levels. Jugger is a great way to keep active, and a fun way to meet new people in a friendly and inclusive community! **👟 How to Join a Session and What to Bring** Joining is simple - just show up! RSVPing on Meetup or Discord is a big help as it helps us plan around expected numbers. You are also welcome to bring along any interested friends and family. **⚔️ Jugger equipment is supplied.** We have a collection of gear to loan out to new players. Bring a water bottle (there is a tap nearby), sunscreen, and wear comfortable clothes and shoes for running around in - and that you don't mind getting a bit dirty! Recommend but not required items include: sunglasses, football boots, kneepads, and gloves if you have them. You don't need any of these to get started, but you may find you want them if you become a regular. **✅ Are there any costs are involved?** Our training sessions are **free to attend** as often as you like, we are essentially just a group of friends that meet for training and socializing on the weekend. The Australian Jugger League has a voluntary annual membership that helps to support the sport (including maintaining equipment and paying for Meetup), and we encourage people to join once they become a regular attendee or begin attending tournaments. However there's no obligation so spend any money when you're first trying it out or just attending casually. **➡️ External Links** We organise our regular players through our Discord group and their attendance is not often represented in the Meetup attendance numbers (we use Meetup to reach out to new people). Events are also (though less regularly) posted to Facebook, while event photos and videos are shared on our Instagram. * [Join our Discord](https://discord.gg/WHnMyk56Cu) * [Jugger Melbourne on Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/JuggerMelbourne) * [Follow us on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/jugger_melbourne/) * [Australian Jugger League website](https://www.jugger.au/) \*\* See you on Sunday \*\*

A welcoming day out where the focus is all about fun, friendships and fresh air. Whether you come solo or bring a mate, you’ll leave with new connections and memories! \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **🚙 Carpooling Makes It Happen** At Social Hikes Australia, carpooling is a big part of what makes our hikes possible. Every extra seat means another person gets to join. Fewer cars, easier logistics, and a more social, fun start to the day. Carpooling is also a great way to meet people before the hike even begins, share a few laughs, get to know each other, and arrive together. It’s simple, social, and one of the best parts of the experience 🌿 💡 Carpool tickets are offered at a discounted price to encourage drivers to offer seats and make the hikes accessible for everyone. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- 👉 **For Drivers** If you’ve got spare seats, offering a lift makes a big difference. It helps others join, reduces parking stress and makes the ride more enjoyable from the start. 👉 **For Passengers** Passengers are to contact drivers directly using the details provided in the carpool sheet (linked at the top of the description). The sheet shows information from carpooler tickets (Drivers Offering Seats). ✨ **Best practice:** Try to organise your ride before purchasing a ticket to avoid last-minute stress. **Please note:** Drivers and passengers should stick to the arrangements they make. We do not recommend swapping drivers or cars after you’ve agreed on a ride. If you do decide to change, please make sure all parties are clearly informed and agree to avoid confusion. If a driver forgets, gets mixed up, or doesn’t pick you up, Social Hikes Australia (and your driver) are **not liable** for any inconvenience caused. For this reason, it is best to keep things simple with the driver you first arranged with. ⚠️ **Important Notes** * Please stick with the carpool arrangement you agree on. * Avoid swapping drivers unless everyone is clearly informed and agrees. * Petrol, parking, and other costs are not included in the ticket price. These should be agreed upon directly between the driver and passengers. * Social Hikes Australia is not responsible for any issues with private carpool arrangements. 📍 **Pick-Up Info** Drivers will share their preferred pick-up locations, such as major CBD train stations like Parliament, Richmond, South Yarra, Southern Cross, or North Melbourne. For this hike, **the nearest station to the trail is** [Waurn Ponds](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Dn7e4WuXs5bSUSCA6 "https://maps.app.goo.gl/Dn7e4WuXs5bSUSCA6"), though drivers choose whichever spot is most convenient for them. Passengers can then join from those locations. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **🤩 Why Join?** 🌟 Make new friends in a relaxed, casual way. 🌟Enjoy nature and fresh air while meeting like-minded people your age 🌟Friendly vibes full of laughs, chats and good times guaranteed 🌟You never know. Today’s hiking buddy could be tomorrow’s uni mate, housemate, or travel buddy! 🌟Your safety is our priority. Hike at your own risk. You are responsible for your own safety and belongings. Respectful, kind behaviour is a must. We are a positive and welcoming community. Zero tolerance for any unwelcome behaviour. We’re here to have fun, together! For this hike, we recommend that all participants download the AllTrails app before the event. This will help you: * View the trail map in advance * Track your progress during the hike * Stay on course in case you get separated from the group Having AllTrails ensures everyone can enjoy the hike safely and confidently. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **📜 Liability & Waiver** By joining this hike, you acknowledge that participation is voluntary and at your own risk. Social Hikes Australia is not liable for accidents, injuries, illnesses, theft, or transport-related issues. 🚑 If you have previous injuries, medical conditions, or health concerns, discuss with the organiser before purchasing your ticket. Tickets cannot be transferred to another hike unless agreed with the organisers. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **🌧 Rain Policy** If the forecast shows over 15 mm in 6 hours or 20+ mm during the day, we may postpone or adjust the hike to keep things safe and enjoyable. Slippery trails, flooding, and poor visibility are no fun or safe. We’ll also reschedule for thunderstorms or if trails are still soaked from heavy rain the days before. Light rain (under 5 mm/hour) is usually fine. We’ll check each hike case-by-case. Safety first 🌿 If it changes and gets heavier, we’ll reschedule for the following Sunday, 28 June 2026, instead. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **🌿 About Social Hikes Australia:** Social Hikes Australia was founded in 2023 with a simple mission: to bring people together through the beauty of nature. Community Assembly - AI & Data Centres

Artificial intelligence and data centres are reshaping how we live, work, and use energy. Right now, the Federal Government is asking for input to influence how this important technology shapes our future. This is a real opportunity for community voices to reach the people making decisions about our collective future. The problem is that formal consultation processes can feel inaccessible; full of technical jargon, unclear on process, and easy to scroll past. That's exactly why we're running this community assembly. Rather than feeling overwhelmed or just venting into the void, come and do something about it. This is a free, volunteer-run, in-person session designed to give you: * Context — a plain-English overview of the inquiry and what's at stake for our communities, environment, and economy * Space — a safe, welcoming environment for open discussion, whatever your background or level of expertise * Support — practical guidance to help you formulate and submit your own perspective directly to the inquiry.
No technical expertise required. Just curiosity and a willingness to have your say. We believe that diverse perspectives lead to richer outcomes, and on something as consequential as AI and data centres, we need as many of them as possible! Come and help shape a future we can all look forward to. Register here for a free ticket: https://events.humanitix.com/community-assembly-ai-and-data-centres
