Soulful Mantra Meditation Evening

**We invite you to The Mantra Room, a friendly community sharing spiritual practice of Mantra Meditation, Kirtan & Wisdom & Vegan Meal.** **\~\~** “Mantra” means transcendental sound vibration, sound which transcends the material world. It does not originate in the material world; it originates in the Spiritual World and descends to the material platform without losing any spiritual potency. By the simple process of mantra meditation, our mind and heart are gradually purified of all kinds of stress, worry, misconceptions and deep-seated fears etc. We begin to experience an ever-deepening inner peace and happiness and increasing insights into life. The easiest way of meditating on the mantras is by singing in a group accompanied with musical instruments , which is also known as Kirtan. Rather than being a type of performance, Kirtan is a journey of self discovery. It nourishes our deepest needs for inner peace, happiness, freedom from fear & spiritual love. Be a part of an immersive and interactive mantra meditation experience and join many other like minded people that come to Brisbane’s home of Kirtan [The Mantra Room](https://www.facebook.com/TheMantraRoom.Brisbane)! Everyone is welcome, whether you regularly engage in meditation or never before we encourage you to come along for a special night of chanting. Includes Community Veg/Vegan meal. Volunteering and Donations in supporting these events are greatly appreciated. Namaste! The Mantra Room Volunteers♥

Volleyball Training and Games - Intermediate - B Level (SNHC)

Welcome to Melbourne Volleyball Academy! 🤗 **[[WHAT]]** This session will be broken into 2 halves, 1st half is training and the 2nd half is games. Please arrive on time as we will start exactly at 5:30 PM. Our intention is to have this training be the 'next step' after our beginner-level training at North Melbourne Community Centre. We will be focusing on learning what specific roles on the court entail, improving 'volleyball IQ', breaking bad habits, and building better techniques. **[[WHERE]]** The session will be held as State Netball Hockey centre. Please enter via the main entrance (the entrance with the larger parking lot), we will be on Court 3 & 4, please ask the person at the front desk if you need directions. **[[WHO]]** The training is intended for social volleyball players at the intermediate level or 'B' level (for more details on volleyball levels, please visit our site here: https://melbournevolleyballacademy.com.au/skill-levels-explained). Players are expected to: * pass freeballs and serve receive consistently * have some knowledge of 5-1 (1 setter all around) or 6-2 (back row setter only) systems * help others and have good sportsmanship If you are a high intermediate (BB) or advanced player (A) you are more than welcome to join but you may find our open play sessions for BB/A level players more suitable. For players that are at the beginner level, we suggest attending our training on Fridays at North Melbourne Community Centre 6-9PM as beginners may find the drills and level of play too difficult. Players will be asked to attend a different session if their play is deemed unsafe or if they are not of the appropriate skill level. **[[HOW MUCH]]** $24 card payment will be collected on the day via square (EFTPOS) payment. **[[WHEN]]** The stadium is booked for 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM. However, feel free to come early and stretch as the stadium is open earlier. **Last-minute dropouts and no-shows will have a zero-tolerance policy going forward.** All players are expected to **update their RSVP at least 24 hours** in advance if they are unable to attend. This applies to players on the going list and the waitlist. **[[THINGS TO BRING]]** We ask that you bring: * Water bottle * Appropriate footwear for indoor court shoes - netball shoes, volleyball shoes, or basketball shoes would be suitable. * Wear contacts or sports glasses if possible. **[[OTHER DETAILS]]** Only those on the “going” list are permitted to play. If you are on the waitlist, or not registered at all, you will not be permitted to play.

Learn and play co-op board game Earthborne Rangers, in Victoria Park

We invite you to **play around & find out\*** how much fun and solidarity comes from playing together at a table in a beautiful park, forming new social groups and stimulating the mind and imagination. Free and volunteer-powered. In Earthborne Rangers you explore a world with optimistic “solarpunk” themes as you work as a team to succeed together. ER is like Dungeons & Dragons but a nice change from grim dungeon-crawling and disaster-fighting, and has more structure, less improvisation. Learn more about ER [here](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/342900/earthborne-rangers). Lifelong game designer Matthew Ford will teach and play. The first half gives you the general idea. After a short break you can continue into more depth for the next half. You will get invited to events for continued intermediate play. Step 1: RSVP to this event and **fill out the form at [this link](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Z31irtO0tZe8dIW7pxdrY2tKaYp8sdoH5XIoUVOffT0/edit)** to state when you would prefer to play. Step 2: **Wait until we send you a message** via Meetup and email stating which time slot we booked you into. Step 3: At your time slot, use the "how to find us" section-- please read it carefully, don't just put destination into a map app. Look for Matthew in a blue hat and gray beard. Free event. Nothing to bring or prepare. Come as you are, even if you know absolutely nothing about it. **We welcome absolutely everyone and ensure a supportive and inclusive atmosphere**. We've face-to-face taught games to over 1000 people of every kind-- join us! Read all this event info and comments carefully both ahead of time and **just before you attend,** as our location and method may change slightly. **How to find us at The Lookout in Victoria Park:** * [From QUT Kelvin Grove campus](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mhSbmU82uMWKtQMD6ofhV0vuypU_9gMwybbtNEj6Z_s) * [From Centenary Aquatic Centre in Spring Hill](https://docs.google.com/document/d/15odzo0s6OsFT0NfyFWeSRbNZRLMkfemD8JOMetsxu20) \* Bonus info for all who care: As stadium developers approach Victoria Park/Barrambin, they will **find out** how much our community values this special place. Two promise-breaking Olympic stadiums are slated to be built in Victoria Park. Let's **help them find out** why they had better leave this park as undisturbed as possible. We are not led by [www.savevictoriapark.com](http://www.savevictoriapark.com/) or the [Goori Camp Embassy](https://www.instagram.com/gooricampembassy/) but those are a good way to learn more.
