**MY AIM IS TOO PASS ON YEARS OF EXPIERIENCE** LOOKING FOR ONGOING CREW WE WONT BE SIGHT SEEING ALL YOU NEED IS A KEENESS TO LEARN THE REST CAN BE TAUGHT. SOME YEARS AGO A DUTCH GIRL ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA HAD NEVER BEEN SAILING THROUGH SAILING SHE NOW OWNS A LARGE CRUISING YACHT WITH HER PARTENER WHO SHE MET WHILST RETURNING FROM HER OWN SYDNEY TO HOBART AND THEY SAIL THE WORLD IN ANTHER A CHINESE LADY WHO HAD RECENTLY ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA HAD NEVER SAILED BECAUSE SHE WAS SUPER KEEN WE CAME 1ST BOTH SUMMER AND WINTER SERIES SHE HAS RECENTLY ACCEPTED THE ROLE OF FOREDECK ON A VERY LARGE INTERNATIONAL RACING YACHT All you need is a keenness to be taught many of my crew have started as complete novices Over the many years I have sailed, many new crew members have started on Wednesdays after arriving here from overseas or do shift work and get Wednesday afternoon off . All have become great friends sometimes ending up owning their own yachts and even doing their own Sydney to Hobarts. As long as you have a love of all things on the water, on-board training will be given to good people. **FINALLY, I NEED TO POINT OUT A FEW THINGS FOR SAFETY REASONS** 1. Wear clothes suitable for sailing – MOST IMPORTANT – rubber, soft-soled shoes with good grip. NO THONGS OR BARE FEET! 2. If you have long hair, TIE IT UP 3. Glasses and hats need to be tied with cord or similar – I’ve seen so many disappear overboard. 4. If you have sailing or gym gloves, bring them to protect hands from rope burn. 5. Strong advice - please remove rings from fingers, and super-long nails really hurt when bent or caught.

Award-winning Western Australian author Holden Sheppard returns to the world of his bestselling debut Invisible Boys with Yeah the Boys: a bold, propulsive new novel about male friendship, masculinity, modern gay life and the first gay male AFL player. Raw, brash and fiercely tender, Yeah the Boys is the story of three young men finding their way back to each other – and discovering their own complicated ways of becoming men. It arrives in response to overwhelming reader demand, with audiences repeatedly asking what became of Charlie, Zeke and Hammer in the years since Invisible Boys. This novel answers that question, and then some. Unapologetic and unforgettable, this is Holden at the height of his powers. To unpack the many talking points this novel has to offer, will be our very own library staff member Danni Hilliard. Danni is one of our most enthusiastic readers and reviewers of books and has previously interviewed Holden about his second novel The Brink. Copies will be available to purchase from MacLean’s Booksellers and Holden will be sticking around to chat and sign copies of his books. Ages: Adults 18+ years, 16-17 year olds can attend with parent/guardian. Cost: $10 Bookings essential If you have any access or inclusion needs, you will be able to advise us when booking.
