Join 100’s of other like-minded Cairns residents on May 22nd at the Cairns Esplanade and SAY NO TO DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE. Wear your Purple Shirts and collectively we will promote awareness, show support to those victim survivors, and importantly start a conversation. It will be a short and easy walk from the assembly point (start around 5;30) along the Esplanade towards Fogarty Park. We encourage participants to share stories and learn as they walk. The short walk will end at Fogarty Park (around 6pm). We will have speakers from Cairns Domestic Family Violence Shelters to share stories of hope about survivors and sadly frustration about the strain these services are consistently under. We will have local members speak about the impact to our society. The speakers will also ask a call to action and share what we can all do to reduce incidents of this epidemic. We would like to thank the members and agencies from the Cairns DFV Collective (a group of agencies that work together to improve services and seek out solutions) for there support of this event.
