Matt Angell turns to ‘Dust’ Join singer-songwriter Matt Angell as he launches his retrospective double album ‘Dust’. A collection of songs stretching back as far as 1991. Matt Angell is a musical maverick. With soul-stirring melodies and poignant lyrics, his voice captivates audiences whether on intimate stages or large festivals. Raised in the rugged Pilbara of Western Australia, Angell's musical odyssey began when an old guitar jumped from a mini-moke and into his hands. With a poetic and straightforward approach, Angell delves into the harshness of life, exploring themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. Angell will open the night acoustically, playing tracks from (Part 1) of ‘Dust’, raw and stripped back, true to his soul and this side of the collection. Dave Ferguson will be up next. Ferguson, a Karratha/Melbourne musician, began his musical journey in Karratha before travelling to London, then eventually settling in Melbourne, where he became a major creative force behind Fuck the Fitzroy Doom Scene. His work helped shape the band into one of Melbourne’s most respected underground heavy acts, earning a dedicated following drawn to their distinctive sound. Influenced by everything from the quiet introspection of Nick Drake to the immersive heaviness of Black Sabbath, Ferguson expanded his musical expression with the release of his 2024 solo album ‘In My Time’. The record strips back the volume to reveal acoustic, honest songs that uncover the heart behind the heaviness. Things get cranked up a notch for the 3rd part of the show. Angell is joined by longtime bandmates, Brad Walther and Dj Davy, to play out (Part 2)—the electric side of things. Covering his many musical stylings of Blues, Country and Rock. Everything returns to Dust.
