After a series of storming singles, Sydney alt-dance punk outfit BLOKBSTR announce their latest mixtape, BLOKTAPE ‘99, along with a series of east coast launch dates with special guest Marty Rotten joining them on all shows. The unique BLOKBSTR sound created by the duo of Jimmy Heathwood and Sam Barron, is a dirty, fun and weird mix of Indie, Punk, Pop with an unruly splash of Dance Music poured on top. That is bound to happen when you count among your influences LCD Soundsystem, DEVO, Yard Act, Get Down Services and Jagwar Ma. Their 2024 debut single, cost of living anthem “Apartment” received support from Triple J and the follow up “Ciao!” was featured by Apple on a global iPad commercial in January 2025. Since BLOKBSTR released their debut EP BLOKTAPES in 2024, they have taken their chaotic live show around Australia supporting acts such as Yard Act, Boo Seeka, The Terrys and Le Shiv. Their mixtape BLOKTAPE ’99 is a ten track collection of music that darts off all in all directions: the raucous Electro Punk of “Static”, groove heavy Indie Dance with “No More Celebrations”, Nostalgic Indie Rock in “Flight” and even touches of Energetic Bedroom Pop with “Do Ya Love This City”.
