YEAR 9 DRAMA Acts of Resistance is a workshop-style showing that captures the Year 9 exploration of theatre as a force for social and political change. Guided by their classroom teacher or an invited artist, students have been investigating the conventions of epic theatre and poor theatre through the work of Bertolt Brecht and Jerzy Grotowski. In this showing, students will present paired scenes devised from Hoods, an Australian text that follows two children navigating hardship, disadvantage, and the small acts of resilience that shape their world. Through stylised performance, direct address, transformation, and minimalism, students have crafted scenes that challenge audiences to reflect, question, and respond. Acts of Resistance highlights how young artists can use theatre to provoke thought, inspire empathy, and illuminate the stories that too often go unheard.
