Capital City Trail Walk – 5 km, 10 km, or the Full Loop
Join us for a big, social day out walking the full Capital City Trail loop around inner Melbourne.
We'll follow the trail at an easy, social pace, taking in the Yarra River, Merri Creek, Royal Park, and the Docklands waterfront along the way. The full AllTrails route is about 30 km as a loop, listed as moderately challenging, but it's mostly flat so it's more about stamina than fitness. Because it's a loop that weaves through the inner suburbs, the route stays close to trains and trams, so we can keep the plan nice and flexible.
You can choose what suits you:
* **Shorter option:** walk part of the loop and hop off early after a comfortable distance. Trains and trams are never far away.
* **Full option:** complete the whole loop with the group back towards the start.
This is a casual walk, not a fitness challenge. We'll keep an easy social pace, take breaks, and you're welcome to peel off early whenever you've had enough kilometres.

**Rough timeline**
* 9:00am – Meet outside Transport Hotel entrance and say hi
* 9:15am – Start walking
* 12:30–1:30pm – Lunch break
* Around 5:00pm – Finish walking, with optional coffee afterwards
**Hop-off points (for the shorter option)**
If you'd like to peel off early, here are handy exit points along the way with the nearest public transport (distances are approximate, measured from the start):
* \~10 km – Skipping Girl sign, Abbotsford → Burnley St/Victoria St (Tram 109)
* \~15 km – Melbourne Polytechnic, Fairfield → Heidelberg Rd bus stop (approx. 11 min walk)
* \~20 km – Poplar Oval → Royal Park Station (Upfield line)
* \~25 km – Woolworths, The District Docklands → D10 NewQuay Prom/Docklands Dr (Trams 35, 70 & 86)

* You can do a shorter section and hop off early after as many kilometres as you like — the loop stays close to public transport.
* It's a long day, so bring enough water, food, and sun protection.
* The walk is weather-dependent, so please check the forecast and dress accordingly.
* We'll aim to stay together, but the route is well-marked and flexible.
